This model combined fiery mechanics of 1300cc with double camshaft and a neat base frame, which could clearly host more power than what it was given initially. Gifted with a light weight, its sports career would shortly come and it can be rightfully described as “short but intense”, debuting in the 1956 edition of the Mille Miglia with a “monoposto” configuration. Even though it was a long time ago, we still had a little debt with the rest of the sporting career of this charming but bold model. If we go over its history we will find it was part of such emblematic competitions like the 12 Hours of Sebring (under the aforementioned Hoffman’s request, with the aim of promoting the model for the american market), the Liège-Rome-Liège, the Targa Florio or the Tour de Corse. For such competition purposes, the car was covered by a canvas roof or an aerodynamic hard-top which added a strong racing character.

However, in spite of these remarkable competition achievements, there was one version in particular which caught our eye because its peculiar and attractive livery, with a roof rack and spare wheel, rather than because its results, since Jean-Pierre Lobies and Jean Pietri weren’t able to finish the Rally of Monte-Carlo in 1961. Anyway, we think it deserves to be part of our catalogue by its own merits and unquestionable charisma and personality.
